Résumé 0

Using a cognitive prism, this research examines the cognitive effect of algorithmic management–a term that refers to the managerial practices that mobilize the processes supported by artificial intelligence–on management innovation. Considering that this effect is understudied in the existing research but is nevertheless a significant subject in the era of artificial intelligence, this research adopts a cognitive prism in this context and develops an analytical framework to examine the cognitive interactions between algorithmic management and management innovation. The results of this conceptual work, which are formulated in the form of analytical propositions, indicate that, depending on the nature of the algorithmic processes mobilized, algorithmic management can fortify or constrain management innovation. Thus, we conclude this article by highlighting the importance of integrating the preservation, sustainability and enhancement of human cognition into the choice and combination of algorithmic solutions to develop management innovation.
