This work, conceived as programmatic, proposes to determine the main contours of an analysis of the institution (of mediation) breaking with, firstly, the posture of duality constitutive of institutions, and secondly with the postulate of the institution as a 'social thing', without abandoning the stake of generalisation posed by the problem of micro-macro relations. It is a matter of considering the institution as processual, non-substantial and plurivocal, but also as endogenous to practice, whether the latter refers to language, meaning and the accomplishment of categorisation operations, or to specific « mediation » activities. The aim, then, is to identify and describe the general ways in which mediation is practically instituted. The thesis that is defended can ultimately be formulated as follows : mediation is instituted through a multitude of interconnections, practically accomplished, between a multiplicity of institutional processes of other social « entities ». This research is divided into three parts. The first targets the meaningful institution of mediation and aims to determine the main components through which multiple meanings are attributed to it. The second looks at certain political macro-dynamics (certain sets of institutions) involved in the institution of mediation, these being distinguished according to two types of social (anarchist and hierarchical - identity-based) that they institute. The third concerns the practical institution of mediation.

Ce travail, pensé comme programmatique, propose de déterminer les principaux contours d'une analyse de l'institution (de la médiation) rompant avec, d'une part, la posture de dualité constitutive des institutions et d'autre part avec le postulat de l'institution comme « chose sociale », ce sans abandonner l'enjeu de généralisation que pose le problème des relations micro-macro. Il s'agit alors de considérer l'institution comme processuelle, non substantielle et plurivoque, mais aussi comme endogène à la pratique, que cette dernière se réfère au langage, à la signification et à l'accomplissement d'opérations de catégorisation ou encore à des activités spécifiques « de médiation ». L'objectif est ainsi de repérer et de décrire les modalités générales par lesquelles s'institue pratiquement et diversement la médiation. La thèse qui y est défendue peut être in fine formulée comme suit : la médiation s'institue à travers une multitude d'interconnexions, pratiquement accomplies, entre une multiplicité de processus d'institutions d'autres entités sociales. Cette recherche se décompose en trois parties. La première porte sur l'institution significative de la médiation et vise à déterminer les principales composantes par lesquelles de multiples significations lui sont attribuées. La seconde s'intéresse à certaines macro-dynamiques politiques (certains ensembles d'institutions) impliquées dans l'institution de la médiation, celles-ci étant distinguées en fonction de deux types de social (anarchiste et hiérarchique - identitaire) qu'elles instituent. La troisième porte sur l'institution pratique de la médiation.
