Résumé
The article deals with positionality, mainly from an Eastern European perspective, especially with regard to females, precarious and ethnic minority researchers or those with other identity features that might place them in a marginal position in the academic field. Through personal, and more general examples, we discuss the issues such as the dichotomy of home and elsewhere, privilege vs disadvantage, the dilemmas of field and institutional research, and divided loyalty vis-à-vis one’s own group and the scientific community.
