Pedro Pérez Cuadrado et al., « El diseño de carteles durante la Guerra Civil española: el caso de José Bardasano en el bando republicano », HAL-SHS : histoire, ID : 10670/1.sjxyx0
During the Spanish Civil War the political poster in general and the war poster in particular experienced an unprecedented evolution in our country due to the confl uence of a series of political, cultural and social factors that made it a reference for the study of this essential graphic support as a means of propaganda. This article focuses on the poster of the Republican side, an absolutely ideologized poster in which the artists put their talent at the service of ideas, highlighting the case of José Bardasano, whose graphic production during the years of the war, of exceptional quality and highly representative of the historical moment he witnessed, as well as his infl uence on the rest of the artists of the time, make him an obligatory reference when approaching this period of our country’s history. The article proposes a review of almost one hundred posters made by this author –between 1936 and 1939 – representative of the historical moment he witnessed.
