This contribution seeksto explore the global media ’streatment of violence in Nigeriabetween June 2006 and May2014. In the first six monthsof 2014, Nigeria attracted ahigh level of attention fromthe Western media. Based onthe recent volume of articlesinspired by increasing interestin on-going events in thecountry, there are a varietyof reports and explanationsunveiling the complexity ofthe phenomenon particularlyin regard to the Boko Haramcrisis.
