Elisabel Larriba, « Evolution de l'image de Ferdinand VII dans la presse du Trienio Liberal », HAL-SHS : histoire, ID : 10670/1.tt5yhn
On March 9, 1820, following the successful pronunciamiento of Rafael del Riego in Las Cabezas de San Juan, Fernando VII accepted what he did not want to do in 1814: swear the Political Constitution of the Spanish Monarchy, promulgates in Cádiz on March 19, 1812. The absolute king then became a constitutional monarch. The Manifest to the Nation (March 10, 1820), widely disseminated, in order to make this change credible, was one of the first steps in a process to redesign the image of the king among public opinion. The objective of this article is to analyze the evolution of the image of King Fernando VII in the periodical press of the Liberal Triennium.
