Guilherme Grané Diniz, « Pornographies: disputes around De Sade », HAL-SHS : philosophie, ID : 10.52583/cartema.v8i8.248432
e relevance of the reception of the Marquis de Sade’s literature has yet tobe fully understood. It takes place not only in philosophy, but also in art. In thisaspect, we nd Sade in the vanguard European cinema, in Hollywood cinema andin pornography. Andrea Dworkin highlights a supposed a nity between sadeanwriting and the sexual morals of pornographic staging: that of predation andhatred for women. However, this appropriation is disputed. Angela Carter willoppose Dworkin’s vision with the “sadean woman”: Sade would have conceived anunprecedented female sexual freedom. In this sense, it is remarkable the in uenceof the sadean sexual imaginary in pornographic lms that propose themselves asa critique of traditional pornography. erefore, it is interesting to retrace andconsider these disputes and appropriations of Sade, in order to have a better understandingof its relevance to philosophy and contemporary art.
