The Palaeolithic cave of Bara-Bahau (Le Bugue, Dordogne), discovered in 1951 by N. and M. Casteret, was the object of a new study during the last years. Eighteen drawings (three quadrangular symbols, one hand, one phallus, six horses, two bisons, one aurochs, one reinder, one bear and two incomplete drawings) are engraved on three panels in the form of a pyramid at the end of the cave. By technologic analysis, some engravings are not included in the conclusions because of suspect aspect. Because of the style of animals and the presence of quadrangular symbols near tectiforms, Bara-Bahau seems to date from Madalenian period.

La grotte ornée de Bara-Bahau (Le Bugue, Dordogne), découverte en 1951 par N. et M. Casteret, a fait récemment l'objet d'une étude méthodique. Les dix-huit représentations (trois signes quadrangulaires, une main, un phallus, six chevaux, deux bisons, un aurochs, un renne, un ours et deux tracés incomplets) sont gravés sur une surface pyramidale en trois registres superposés au fond de la galerie. L'analyse technologique a rendu nécessaire l'élimination d'un certain nombre de tracés d'origine et de datation sans doute modernes. Par le style des animaux et par l'existence de signes quadrangulaires proches des tectiformes, Bara-Bahau semble bien pouvoir être rapporté au Magdalénien.
