Il contributo offre l’edizione delle iscrizioni parietali, graffite o dipinte, della Caserma dei Vigili di Ostia. Il loro numero totale è di 127, ma in questa sede viene data l’edizione solo delle prime 50. L’edizione stessa è preceduta da una breve introduzione sulla storia degli studi e da un prospetto sul contenuto dei testi (nomi di persona, quasi tutti maschili; riferimenti alla vita militare; motti; alfabeti; numeri; disegni di navi, rosette, fiori geometrici). Tra le iscrizioni presentate spiccano alcune dipinte, come la n. 18, preziosa sotto molti aspetti. La quasi totalità delle iscrizioni si può datare tra la seconda metà del II e la prima metà del III secolo.

The contribution offers the edition of the wall inscriptions of the Caserma dei Vigili of Ostia, both the scratched and the depicted. Their total number amounts to 127, but in the present publication only the first 50s have been considered. The edition is preceded by a short introduction on the history of the previous publications and by a few remarks on the personal names occurring in the inscriptions, references to the daily of the soldiers, maxims, alphabets, numbers, drawings of ships, rosettes, geometric figures. Among the texts some depicted inscriptions leap out, e. g. 18. Most of the inscriptions can be dated to late second or early third century.
