On the occasion of the republication of the dialogue between Carlo Ginzburg, Giordana Charuty and Daniel Fabre, Maririta Guerbo and I look back at the first reception of Ginzburg's work "Les batailles nocturnes" in France. This is an opportunity to discuss with him his perception of the French debates of the time, between structuralism, history of mentalities and historical anthropology, as well as the subsequent evolution of his work. Giordana Charuty, Ginzburg's first French translator, recalls what French ethnography was like at the time, in particular through the Toulouse school formed around Daniel Fabre, in line with the legacy bequeathed by René Nelli. This multi-voice dialogue also provides an insight into what European ethnology has become since then.

A l'occasion de la reparution du dialogue qui se déroula entre Carlo Ginzburg, Giordana Charuty et Daniel Fabre, nous revenons, avec Maririta Guerbo, sur la première réception dont l'oeuvre de Ginzburg "Les batailles nocturnes" bénéficia en France. C'est l'occasion d'évoquer avec lui la perception qui était la sienne des débats français de l'époque, entre structuralisme, histoire des mentalités et anthropologie historique, tout comme l'évolution ultérieure de son oeuvre. Giordana Charuty, première traductrice en français de Ginzburg, rappelle de son côté ce qu'était alors l'ethnographie de la France, en particulier à travers l'école de Toulouse qui se constituait autour de Daniel Fabre, dans le droit fil de l'héritage légué par René Nelli. Ce dialogue à plusieurs voix donne également à comprendre ce qu'est devenue depuis lors l'ethnologie de l'Europe.
