Epilogue: A reflexive experiment of/on spatial agencing

This epilogue reflects on the lessons learned from this book. It addresses spatial agencing knowledge in a reflexive way, based on a classic review and a textometric analysis of the entire collection of essays. In particular, thanks to the Iramuteq and the Gephi software, the epilogue 1) identifies and comments on the different classes of concepts, fields and proposals that emerge from the authors’ contributions; 2) traces how these notions are associated with one another and shape varied forms of spatial agencements; and 3) maps the relations between the book’s contributors and external references. Studying the geography of such networks helps in understanding how spatial agencing emerges at the crossroads of previous developments, notably the actor-network theory, organisation studies and geography, and paves the way for further research undertakings. It clearly appears that space should no longer be conceived as a given external, objective and somewhat inert substratum but as the outcome of various organising and agencing efforts. According to the proponents of the anthropocene, at the this present time when we humans are dangerously damaging our living space because we are taking it as a mere submissive and passive resource, this book offers welcome avenues to rethink the way that we interact with nature, distribute our activities and organise our practices, that is, engage in more positive ways of spatial agencing.
