Professions, between traditions and modernityOver the last thirty years, information professionals have seen a number of their traditional skills overtaken by electronic tools, their function as information mediators called into question. Big Data is going to shake the profession up even further but should also offer some exciting opportunities. Our contributors show us, through classic functions and novel postures, how these professions have (or have not) been affected by this new digital context, and they sketch out some possible future roles for the information professional.

Die berufe, zwischen tradition und moderneSeit rund dreissig Jahren sind einige der traditionellen Kompetenzen der Information Professionals von Informatik-Tools übernommen worden, und ihre Vermittlerrolle wurde in Frage gestellt. Das Aufkommen der Big Data wird die Informationswelt weiter in Bewegung bringen, aber auch gute Gelegenheiten anbieten. Die Beiträge dieses Abschnitts veranschaulichen, zwischen klassischen Funktionen und neuen Stellungen, in wiefern die Berufe von diesem neuen digitalen Umfeld verändert wurden (oder auch nicht), und skizzieren die mögliche Zukunft der Informationsberufe.

Los oficios, entre tradiciones y modernidadTras treinta años, los profesionales de la información han visto cómo algunas de sus competencias tradicionales eran asumidas por las herramientas informáticas y su función de mediación puesta en duda.El futuro de “big data" continuará trastocando el mundo de la información, pero debería ofrecer también buenas oportunidades.Las aportaciones que componen este polo vienen a ilustrar, entre funciones clásicas y posturas innovadoras, la forma en que se ven afectados los oficios, o no, por este nuevo contexto numérico y a esbozar el posible futuro de los oficios de la información.
