In 2007 Aditya Behl drew my attention to a passage in the Mirigāvatī, composed in 1503, describing a magical courtly concert. He was organising a series of mini conferences on the sixteenth century at the time and invited me to prepare a presentation on music. The passage caught my attention at once because it was so detailed.
