Athos Bellettini, « La démographie italienne au XVIe siècle : sources et possibilités de recherche », Annales de Démographie Historique (documents), ID : 10.3406/adh.1980.1451
Italy is considered to be a researcher's paradise because the historical documentation is so plentiful. For the XVIth Century, which is a period of important changes, there is nevertheless a great deal to be done when one considers that Beloch's work still constitutes the basic reference in the field. Numerous fiscal sources are very useful as a start for the structural studies. The author gives precisions on their state of preservation. Ecclesiastical sources (parish record's status animarum) make a fondamental contribution. The former are not very frequent during the XVIth Century, the latter (especially baptismal sources) are well enough preserved. The author studies several long curves.
