The French Cymindis of the scapularis group were studied on the basis of the morphology of the sclerites of the inner sac. By comparison with typical material of C. scapularis Schaum, C. s. oedimera Jeannel and C. s. colasi Jeannel we concluded to the presence in France of two different species : C. scapularis Schaum and C. etrusca Bassi bona species. C. scapularis oedimera Jeannel is a synonym of C. scapularis Schaum. C. scapularis colasi Jeannel is a synonym of C. etrusca Bassi of which it is only a chromatic variation. C. scapularis pyrenaea Jeanne is assigned to C. etrusca Bassi as a subspecies. C. scapularis and C. etrusca cohabitate in the French meridional Alps. Their distinctive characters are given and their distribution is precised.
