A diagram representing climatic oscillations occurring over the last 35 millenia was mathematically decomposed into a sum of sinusoïdes and projected to 135,000 B P. The differences between the theoretical profile obtained in this manner and interpretations using the study of continental sediments, can be explained by erosions, slowing down or breaks in sedimentation, and by pedogenesis. In each case, questions arise as to the hierarchical positions of the oscillations, and the amplitude of boundaries at 115 and 75,000 B.P.
