Jürgen Moltmann : Modern society and the future. Modern society is in the process of ruining its own future. The fear of «no future» has genuine causes : it is the result of widespread unemployment, the system of nuclear deterrents, and the ecological crisis. Justice can alone lead to peace and open up a future to the members of the community, to the human community in its successive generations, to the generations of humanity in its natural environment and to the Creation before God.

La société moderne est en train de ruiner son propre avenir. La crainte devant l'absence d'avenir a des causes réelles : elle est due au chômage à grande échelle, à l'endettement croissant, au système de dissuasion nucléaire et à la crise écologique. Il n'y a que la justice qui puisse produire la paix et ouvrir un avenir aux personnes dans la communauté, à la communauté humaine dans la succession des générations, aux générations humaines dans l'environnement naturel et à la Création dans la présence de Dieu.
