The scribal tradition of the Hisperica Famina obsviously shows that Bretons of the early Middle Ages knew this obscur texts. However, we can point out that there is very little hisperic, if any, in Carolingian vitae. At this point of view the Hymn of Saint Malo is almost an exception. On the other hand we can find in the incipit, explicit and colophons of certain Breton manuscripts a marked tendancy of using manierism, hellenism and hisperic.

La tradition écrite des Hisperica Famina montre clairement que les Bretons du haut Moyen Age avaient connaissance de ces textes obscurs. Il est remarquable cependant, que l'hispérisme apparaît peu dans les vitae carolingiennes. En ce sens l'Hymne de St. Malo est presque une exception. En revanche certains incipit, explicit et colophons montrent un goût prononcé pour le maniérisme, l'hellénisme et Phispérique.
