The Roman humanist Paolo Pompilio (c. 1455-1491) has left in his Notationes (Vat. lat. 2222, f° 120 r-v) some stimulating observations on traces of latinity in Africa in the XVth century (Lingua franca, in Jarbah [ ?] ; Latin [ ?] in the area of Gafsa, Nementcha and Aures) and on the Greek dialect spoken by the Choriates in the vicinity of Constantinopolis, — a dialect with more than three cases.

L'humaniste romain Paolo Pompilio (vers 1455-1491) a laissé dans ses Notationes (Vat. lat. 2222, f° 120 r-v) quelques observations intéressantes sur des traces de latinité en Afrique au XVe siècle (lingua franca à Jerba [ ?] latin [ ?] dans la région de Gafsa, des Nementcha et de l'Aurès) et sur le dialecte grec parlé par les Choriates aux abords de Constantinople (dialecte qui compte plus de trois cas).
