Links between Thai and Khmer Literature: The case of the works of King Si Thammaracha and Prince Thammathibet. King Si Thammaracha is a Khmer poet of the Udong period whereas Prince Thammathibet is a Thai poet of the late Ayutthaya period. Not only do the lives of these two poets (distant in times of about a hundred years) offer many similarities, but so do their literary works. Is it due to a direct influence (which would imply that Prince Thammathibet had a direct access to the works of King Si Thammaracha), or do these similarities result from a common literary tradition? As a first attempt at addressing this question, this paper will compare excerpts borrowed essentially from Si Thammaracha's Kamnâby bralin mâs œy and from Thammathibet's Kap ho khlong nirat than sok.

Si Thammaracha est un poète khmer de l'époque d'Udong tandis que Thammathibet est un poète de la fin de l'époque d'Ayutthaya. Si les vies de ces deux poètes (distantes d'une centaine d'années) présentent de nombreuses similitudes, il en va de même de certaines de leurs œuvres. Y a-t-il eu une influence directe (ce qui impliquerait que Thammathibet aurait eu accès aux œuvres de Si Thammaracha) ou faut-il attribuer ces similitudes à la tradition littéraire? Le présent article tente une première approche de la question en s' appuyant principalement sur la comparaison entre un poème du roi-poète khmer (le Kamnàby bralin mâs œy) et un poème de style similaire du prince-poète thaï (le Kap ho khlong nirat than sok).
