Peter Schöttler, « Le Centre International de Synthèse et l’Autriche. Notes pour une enquête », Austriaca : Cahiers universitaires d'information sur l'Autriche (documents), ID : 10.3406/austr.2006.918
Founded by the philosopher Henri Berr (1863-1954) in 1925 the Centre International de Synthèse is no longer well known. But notably with the help of its journal, the Revue de Synthèse [historique], and a conference series entitled Semaines internationales de synthèse it played an important role in the evolution of the historical, sociological and philosophical thinking in France. This article provides an overview of the activities within this intellectual «galaxy», with a particular emphasis on the Center’s relationship to Austria between the wars. In so doing, this article emphasizes the key role played by the Centre in the reception of the Vienna Circle in France.
