This contribution gives first of all an interpretation to the consultation of the minutes (1892-1940) of the central administrative bodies of the Belgian Workers' Party (bwp). A unique set of sources that -after digitizing -is made available on the Internet for historical research. The archival explanation including the study of the functioning of the Bureau and the General Council of the bwp, provides an insight into the institutional development of the socialist party before World War n. An administrative history that until now has remained curiously neglected. The reports provide a fairly complete and incisive view on the internal functioning of the bwp. The source is at its strongest in the period before World War i and after 1933 (due to stenographic reporting). But it concerns on the whole a primary historical source for the study of a political party of the social democratic type.

Cette contribution donne en premier lieu une interprétation à la consultation des comptes rendus (1892-1940) des organes administratifs centraux du Parti Ouvrier Belge (pob). Une ensemble unique de sources qui -après numérisation -est mis à disposition sur l'Internet pour recherches historiques. L'explication archivistique, accompagnée d'une étude du fonctionnement du Bureau et du Conseil général du pob, fournit un aperçu du développement institutionnel du parti socialiste avant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Une histoire administrative qui, jusqu'à présent est restée curieusement négligée. Les comptes rendus fournissent une vue assez complète et incisive sur le fonctionnement interne du pob. La source est à son plus fort dans la période précédant la Première Guerre mondiale et après 1933 (en raison d'un rapportage sténogra-phique). Mais il s'agit en général d'une source historique de premier rang pour l'étude du fonctionnement d'un parti politique de type social-démocrate.

Deze bijdrage geeft vooreerst duiding bij de consultatie van de notulen (1892-1940) van de centrale bestuursinstanties van de Belgische Werkliedenpartij (bwp). Een unieke bronnenreeks die na digitalisering via het internet ter beschikking gesteld wordt voor historisch onderzoek. De archivalische toelichting met studie van het functioneren van het Bureau en de Algemene Raad van de bwp moet de gebruiker inzicht geven in de institutionele ontwikkeling van de socialistische partij vóór Wereldoorlog n. Een administratieve geschiedenis die tot nu toe merkwaardig onderbelicht is gebleven. De verslagen bieden een vrij volledig en indringend beeld van het intern functioneren van de bwp. De bron is op zijn sterkst in de periode vóór de Eerste Wereldoorlog en na 1933 (als gevolg van stenografische verslaggeving). Maar het betreft in het algemeen een eersterangsbron voor de studie van de werking van een politieke partij van het sociaaldemocratische type.
