The enfeoffment of the county of Hainaut to the Church of Liege (1071) is known through a number of documents, among which a notitia, the interest and the potential of which do not seem to have been fully appreciated yet. The present study aims at rehabilitating this notitia while offering a new critical edition of it.

L’inféodation du comté de Hainaut à l’Église de Liège en 1071 nous est connue par divers documents et, notamment, par une notice dont l’intérêt et la richesse du contenu ne semblent pas avoir été appréciés à leur juste valeur. Le but de la présente étude est de réhabiliter cette notice et d’en proposer une nouvelle édition critique.

De feodale onderwerping van het graafschap Henegouwen in 1071 aan de Luikse kerk is uit verschillende documenten bekend en in het bijzonder uit een notitia waarvan het belang en de rijkdom niet naar waarde geschat lijken te zijn. Het doel van deze bijdrage is de notitia in eer te herstellen en er een nieuwe kritische uitgave van te bezorgen.
