After the discovery of a menhir at La Veillerie trial trenches were excavated on the site, in 1995. They revealed that a shapeless block of granite was also a menhir with at its base stones driven into the clay on the surface of the mother rock. A third stone buried in the earth must be considered as a third menhir voluntarily pulled down into a trench prepared to receive it. A fourth stone is probably the central part of another menhir.

RÉSUMÉ A la suite de la découverte d'une pierre levée, des sondages furent entrepris en 1995 à La Veillerie. Ils ont prouvé qu'un bloc informe de granite était aussi un menhir avec à sa base un massif de pierres noyées dans l'argile au-dessus de la roche-mère. Une troisième pierre doit être considérée comme un menhir abattu dans une tranchée préparée pour le recevoir. D'un quatrième menhir probable reste la partie médiane.
