In the name of the son. Ethno-accounting of an undocumented family staying in a hotel. An increasing number of families from abroad are having to rely on emergency hotel accommodation – there are currently more than ten thousand such families. What are the conditions under which they come to seek assistance ? How does this accommodation fit into the path of migration ? What effects does it have on this ? And, quite simply, what is it like to live in such accommodation ? These questions are addressed via the story of a single family. The account is based on an in-depth ethnoaccounting budgetary survey. It highlights the constant efforts made by the couple to get by and provide their child with the best life possible. This manifests itself as an exceedingly frugal way of life, enabling them to deal with the trials which characterize their paths and to gradually build savings that open them up to new realms of possibilities.

L’hébergement d’urgence en hôtel concerne un nombre croissant de familles étrangères – plus de dix mille d’entre elles y résident aujourd’hui.
