The author follows the development and the metamorphoses of the historian’s «self» in Greek historiography, from Hecateus of Milet. This «self», as a first step, shows the control of the historian on his field ; then, it asserts itself with historians-rhetoricians from the Isocrates’ school, who tend to make the story a list of examples for moral edification.

L’auteur suit l’émergence et les métamorphoses du «je» de l’historien dans l’historiographie grecque, à partir d’Hécatée de Milet. Ce «je» qui, dans un premier temps, marque le contrôle de l’historien sur sa matière, s’affirme ensuite avec les historiens-rhéteurs issus de l’école d’Isocrate qui tendent à faire de l’histoire un répertoire d’exemples pour l’édification morale.
