Women’s History and Ancient History in Spain: a historiographical assessment (1980-2008). Women’s History is today a solid scientific discipline that is well-established in Spanish’s higher education centres for research and teaching, as well as on an international level. Its academic legitimacy, after more that thirty years, and in spite of the hostility, or at least disdain, of the androcentric academia, lies on the fact that it is no longer questioned that History -understood either as the constant development of Humanity or the science that studies it– cannot be approached without considering women as historic subjects. This paper analyses the most representative lines that have determined the historiographic advance of this current in Spanish Universities, in the area of Ancient History, as well as its main fields of research, its focus and theoretical debates, and its methodological tools, throughout its evolution from the very first manifestations in the 1980s to the present.

Histoire des femmes et histoire ancienne en Espagne : bilan historiographique (1980-2008). L'histoire des femmes est aujourd'hui une discipline solidement implantée dans l'Université et la recherche espagnoles. Sa légitimation académique, après plus de trente ans, et malgré l'hostilité ou au mieux l'indifférence d'un monde académique majoritairement masculin, oblige les historiens à concevoir l'histoire, non comme un destin, mais comme une science qui a aussi pour objet d'étude les femmes comme sujets d'histoire. On analyse ici les marqueurs historiographiques qui ont jalonné l'émergence et le développement de ce courant au sein de l'Université espagnole et tout particulièrement en histoire ancienne dont on retracera les principaux thèmes scientifiques, les problématiques, les débats théoriques et les outils méthodologiques depuis les années 80.

La Historia de las Mujeres constituye hoy una disciplina científica sólidamente asentada en los centros superiores de investigación y docencia de la Universidad española, como a nivel internacional. Su legitimación académica después de más de treinta años de trayectoria, y a pesar de la hostilidad, o cuando menos, el desdén de la comunidad universitaria androcéntrica, radica en que ya no se cuestiona que la Historia, entendida bien como devenir de la Humanidad, bien como la ciencia que lo estudia, no puede abordarse sin tomar en consideración a las mujeres, como sujetos históricos. Se analizan aquí los trazos generales que han marcado el recorrido historiográfico de esta corriente en la Universidad española, en el ámbito de la Historia Antigua, sus principales temas de investigación, sus planteamientos y debates teóricos y sus herramientas metodológicas, a lo largo de su evolución desde sus primeras manifestaciones en la década de los años 80 del siglo XX, hasta la actualidad.
