Résumé En

Anthony Strugnell : style and anti-style in the works of Dom Deschamps. Despite Dom Deschamps' attempts to convey philosophical truth in a pure, impersonal language, his tortuous style is immediately recognisable. But his correspondance indicates that, when dealing with non-philosophical matters, his writing can be witty and elegant. The dominant stylistic barbarity of his philosophical writings is determined by the requirements of a rigorous metaphysics which identifies language and truth, and seeks to produce a discours free from the corruption suffered by language in a state of laws. The anti-style thus created failed to convince because of the inadequate mechanistic psychology of language on which it was based.
