Résumé En

Isabelle Moindrot : Don Giovanni, a tragic divertimento. Mozart and Da Ponte, as heirs of a baroque tradition associating the myth of the punished seducer with the themes of the divertimento and theatrality, played with all the conventions of opera bouffe (rigourous typology, stylistic disharmony, parody, repetitive structure, musical dynamism, fluidity) in order to present Don Giovanni as the embodiment of flight, who refuses all conventions, both moral and theatrical. Thus, by using and corrupting the unifying Utopia and the comic possibilities of opera bouffe, they turned Don Giovanni into the master of divertimenti and gave form to baroque anxiety concerning this character who represented excess and illusion.
