The Asian Historical Statistics (ASHSTAT) Project, designated in Japanese as Ajia Chôki Keizai Tokei, has been launched in 1995 as a program Centre of Excellence funded by the Japanese Ministry of Education (Monbusho n°07CE1001 ; Odaka Konosuke team leader). The ASHSTAT project has been aimed at reinvestigating the economic transformation of Asian countries during the 20r century. The model has been the Long Term Economic Statistics project (LTES ; in Japanese, Nihon Chôki Keizai Tôkei whose research outcomes have been published by the Toyo Keizai Shinpôsha between 1965 and 1983, under the editorship or Ohkawa Kazushi, Shinohara Miyohei and Umemura Mataii. The ASHSTAT project is now entering in the final phase of its completion. The publication of the research outcome is scheduled as a series of 12 volumes to be published by the Toyo Keizai under jJie editorship of Odaka Konosuke, Saito Osamu, and Fukao Kyoji. It is likely that the next frontier after the completion of the ASHSTAT project will be the estimation of national accounts and other historical statistics for Asian countries at a regional level.

Le projet Asian Historical Statistics (ASHSTAT), désigné en japonais comme projet Ajia Chôki Keizai Tokei , a été lancé en 1995 comme programme Centre of Excellence financé par le Ministère de l'Éducation du Japon (Monbushô n° 07CE1001, dont le responsable scientifique est Odaka Konosuke) . L'objectif du projet ASHSTAT a été d'analyser la transformation économique des pays d'Asie au cours du xxe siècle. Le projet de recherche Long Term Economie Statistics project (LTES ; en japonais Nihon Chôki Keizai Tôkei), dont les résultats ont été publiés par l'éditeur Tôyô Keizai Shinpôsha entre 1965 et 1983, sous la direction de Ôkawa Kazushi, Shinohara Miyohei et Umemura Mataji, a constitué le modèle. Le projet ASHSTAT est entré dans la phase finale de sa réalisation. La publication des résultats est prévue sous la forme d'une série de 12 volumes, chez l'éditeur Tôyô Keizai, sous la direction de Odaka Konosuke, Saitô Osamu , et Fukao Kyôji. Après l'achèvement du projet ASHSTAT, les recherches pourraient s'orienter vers l'estimation de comptes nationaux et autres séries statistiques historiques à l'échelle des régions des différents pays d'Asie.
