Changing the word "war" from a descriptive notion into a concept supposes to integrate it in a conception of historicity which takes into count the relation between production and gathering, the specific role of the state and the recent decline of geopolitics as a position of societies. Setting up this prospect allows to analyse contemporary configurations, marked by a spectacular decline of war in world centres of development, the persistence of asynchronous or interstitial wars, the first collisions between inter-state right and universal right. This article pleads for a realistic constructivism, in order to take into account, in a same movement, the diversity of actors and the increasing unification of the referent.

Faire passer le mot "guerre" d'un notion descriptive à un concept suppose de l'intégrer dans une construction de l'historicité qui prenne en compte la relation production/prédation, le rôle spécifique de l'État et le déclin récent de la géopolitique comme posture des sociétés. Cette remise en perspective permet d'analyser les configurations contemporaines, marquées par un déclin spectaculaire de la guerre dans les centres mondiaux du développement, la persistance de guerres asynchrones ou interstitielles, les premières collisions entre droit interétatique et droit mondial. L 'article plaide pour un constructivisme réaliste, afin de prendre en compte, d'un même mouvement la diversité des acteurs et l'unification croissante du réfèrent.
