: Tupuri, an Adamawa-Eastern language spoken in Tchad and Cameroun marks a spatial localization by a high tone amalgamated to a nominal. In the paradigm of what is commonly known as "prepositions", the high tone affects parts of the body which then locate not only in space but also in time and may. refer to abstract notions. Three of these "localizers" when followed by a conjunction introduce subordinate clauses with reference to time, cause and explanation.

RÉSUMÉ : Le tupuri, langue Adamawa-Eastern à la frontière du Tchad et du Cameroun marque une localisation par un ton amalgamé à un lexeme nominal. Dans la paradigme des "prépositions, le ton affecte souvent un nom désignant une partie du corps qui peut alors prendre un effet de sens non seulement spatial mais aussi temporel, voire traduire des concepts abstraits. Trois de ces localisateurs suivis d'une conjonction introduisent aussi des subordonnées à valeur temporelle, causale ou explicative.
