Résumé En Fr

From the Iliad to the Odyssey : How Emerge the Thinking on the Tactile Sensation and the Conception of the Unity of the Body. The aim of this article is to study the sense of touch in Homer through the prism of the questioning of Bruno Snell’s thesis which states that there is no such thing as the unity of the body in Homer’s poems and that, consequently, the very notion of the human body is nowhere to be found in them. We first focus on the body as the object of the sense of touch and then examine how the body acts as a catalyzer for touch to develop so that it is possible to assert that not only does the Odyssey actually account for tactile sensations but it also provides, through the tactile experiences it relates, a conception of the unity of the body. This conception is all the more noteworthy as such a unity is considered through several angles : externally, internally or in the relationship between outer and inner parts of the body.
