Noli me tangere. Touching or not Touching in the Bible. In the Bible, the story known as Noli me tangere is a touchstone to build a theory on touching. How can it be understood ? This injunction from Jesus does not remind the old biblical prohibition of touching God, since this banning was invalidated by the Incarnation. Jesus does not prevent either Mary of Magdala from recovering the former relationships she used to have with him. It stresses rather on the fact that Jesus’ Resurrection creates a new understanding of the body— and thus of the touching—, and gives a brand new definition of it.
