Enrique Fernández, « La interioridad de Richelieu anatomizada por Quevedo », Bulletin hispanique (documents), ID : 10.3406/hispa.2003.5156
In Visit and Anatomy of Cardinal Richelieu's Head, Quevedo describes anatomist Andreas Vesalius' fictitious journey inside Richelieu's head. Vesalius has to find if the head is the origin of the disease affecting the political body of France. In his satire, Quevedo combines the humoral theory and the anatomy ofthe period to depict an inner space where memory, will and reason are spinning out of control and generating a torturing form of subjectivity. Quevedo is simultaneously embracing and rejecting this modem form o f subjectivity by locating it inside Richelieu's abject head.
