From the 1990s, many contemporary art pieces reflect the determination of artists to re-establish or invent a relationship between the resident, the dwelling, and his environment. The issue of the limits of domestic’s space emerge as a real challenge in a context shaken by virtual technologies, network development, and deterritorialization. Through intermediary processes that reveal malleability or alteration of the limit, contemporary artists lead us to question and renegotiate the relationship between the dwelling and the territory where the plays a significant role. Transposed to architecture, certain processes put in place by artists provide criteria that can make clear an aesthetic of thresholds and of fluctuation that is also present in contemporary domestic architecture.

A partir des années 1990, de nombreuses œuvres d’art contemporain traduisent la volonté de restituer ou d’inventer une relation privilégiée entre l’habitant, l’habitation et son environnement.
