Taking into account the reaction to light duration in the care of 12 herbaceous taxa pertaining to the «Abyssinian center of origin of cultivated plants», N.I. Vavilov obtained the following ratio : taxa with short-day reaction / taxa with long day reaction, i. e. S/L = 1/3. The author's own experiment on about 200 population corresponding to 24 taxa mentionned on Vavilov's list of species resulted in obtaining the same ratio S/L = 1/3. However, critical examination of species mentionned on Vavilov's list shows that only a small part of them can be considered as pertaining to an East African origin and as originally domesticated («primagrivernacular» plants) in Abyssinia. If one considers only these «pri- magrivernacular» species, S/L =4/1.
