Maurice Gross, « Sur la définition d'auxiliaire du verbe », Langages, ID : 10.3406/lgge.1999.2199
The common notion of verbal auxiliary is presented and various situations which lead to generalize the notion are discussed. It is shown that aspectual auxiliaries should have the same status as tense auxiliaries. It is also shown that numerous nominal constructions are better analyzed when their main verb is considered as an auxiliary (e.g. Bob stopped selling this books = Bob (stopped + interrupted) the sale of his books).
