Restauration and reconstruction of churches in the « roman » style during XVII* and XVIIIth century : key examples in French Aveyron area, by Maria-Anne Privat-Savigny Numerous churches of the XIth and XIPh centuries, which were destroyed during die « european religion wars », were rebuild in the « roman » style over the « classical period ». Those restitutions are now better understood. However, despite being untouched during the « religion wars », many edifices were also restored in the « roman » style during die XVIIth and XVIIIth century. This article focuses on key examples of this refurbishment in French Aveyron area. It especially details the XVIIIth century rebuild of die Saint Amans church, located in Rodez, France.
