This study is based on the observation of the verbal behaviour of two native French speakers, adolescents with a good academic background, in the process of negociating the production of a written text. The analysis of the corpus shows the scarcity of "functional" metalinguistic oral productions. Only evidence of mondane, common metalanguage can be found, leaving unsaid the construction of cohesion/coherence factors between sentences.
