Among the Shadows. Chateaubriand and Dante Dante for Chateaubriand exists along three axes: as object of literary criticism (where a marked evolution appears), as a figure of projection for the poet's ego, and finally as a compositional inspiration for Chateaubriand's own memories from beyond the grave — where many figures from the Divine comedy have their transpositions.
