Narration and its Implied Discourse: Little Roque l Discourse analysis is limited in its scope for socio-criticism unless brought to account for the totality of a singular discursive system — including narrative. Applied to Little Roque this shows, beyond explicit social discourse, the neurotic fear of nature embedded in the cultured main character's breakdown — and in Maupassant.
