Stéphane Angles, « Déclin et renouveau de l'oléiculture dans la province de Séville (Espagne) », Méditerranée, ID : 10.3406/medit.1992.2761
During the seventies, the province of Sevilla suffered the effects of the olive crisis caused by the salary rise and the competition with the grain oils. These difficulties involved an important reduction of the sevillan olive plantations. In the eighties, the situation changed completly with the restructuration and modernization of the olive groves. On one hand many elements proved this evolution: the end of the uprooting, higher yield groves and the irrigation development. On the other one, the specialization in the production of eating olives improved the outlets and the incomes. The trading is getting better since the prices of olive products rise without any change in the consumption of olive oil. Therefore the prospects are good for the culture of olive trees in Sevilla in spite of different fluctuations arising from the economic situation.
