LES NOMS D'OKINAWA. UNE JAPONITÉ SINGULIÈRE. Par son passé et sa culture, le département ď Okinawa, né de l'annexion du royaume des Ryûkyû en 1879, conserve une place à part dans la nation japonaise, dont il fut détaché de 1945 à 1972. Ses dénominations successives et concurrentes, comme les transformations de ses patronymes, témoignent à la fois des discontinuités de son histoire et de sa japonité incertaine.
