Feng Jicai is a writer who is well known in China and in foreign countries for his short stories and his novels, which offer contents frequently in relation with the Tianjin city where he lives. He is also a painting artist. Moreover, he stands as an active intellectual for the protection of cultural heritage, as well regarding Tianjin (a town with extraordinary architectural past) as concerning the whole China. He has conceived a national program to collect and publish New Year Paintings. In his literary writings and in his global analysis of the Chinese scene, he acts with a citizen’s conscience to contribute to the rescue of the Chinese popular culture.

Feng Jicai est un écrivain célèbre en Chine et à l’étranger pour ses nouvelles et romans qui se déroulent souvent dans le cadre de la ville de Tianjin où il vit. Artiste peintre lui-même, il est également un actif défenseur de la protection du patrimoine culturel, tant à Tianjin - ville au passé architectural exceptionnel - qu’à l’échelle du pays. Il a notamment conçu un programme national de collecte et de publication d’estampes du Nouvel An. Dans son écriture personnelle comme dans son analyse globale de la scène chinoise, il met sa conscience de citoyen au service de la sauvegarde de la culture populaire chinoise.
