Agricultural works carried out in a field located in the plain of the Corconne district (Gard) allowed the discovery of a sculpture in the round apart from any other archeological context. The statue of the Hermaic type, which has traces of mortise attachement in its lying position, represents the bust of a man whose face is mutilated. The right hand holds an object which can hardly be identified, and the left arm is replaced by the hinder limb of a horse. In spite of the tack of elements, really characteristic about the epoch, nevertheless a cluster of hints leads to date this work back to recent Protohistory.

Sur la commune de Corconne (Gard), dans un champ situé en plaine, des travaux agricoles ont permis la mise au jour d'une sculpture en ronde-bosse, isolée de tout autre contexte archéologique. La statue de type hermaïque, qui comporte une mortaise de fixation dans son lit de pose, figure un buste masculin dont le visage est mutilé. La main droite tient un objet mal identifié et le bras gauche est remplacé par un membre postérieur de cheval. A défaut d'éléments réellement caractéristiques, un ensemble d'indices conduit toutefois à attribuer cette œuvre à la Protohistoire récente.
