The study of a decorated lead box which has preserved a pipe connection was the opportunity to record the hydraulic seals found in the urban roadside Ambrussum : sockets and fistulae, one of which wears a plumber’s stamp. Owing to the fact that they have not been found in a functional position, these documents which have escaped the recovery of metal as early as ancient times, are difficult to interpret. If one of them comes from the public baths, most have been discovered in an inn specially devoted to the State carriage, in archaeological layers that have been deserted during the fourth century.

L’étude d’un caisson de plomb décoré qui a conservé le raccordement d’un tuyau a été l’occasion de recenser les plombs hydrauliques découverts dans l’agglomération routière d’Ambrussum : des manchons et des fistulae dont une porte une estampille de plombier. Pour n’avoir pas été trouvés en position fonctionnelle, ces documents, qui ont échappé à la récupération du métal dès l’Antiquité, sont d’une interprétation délicate. Si l’un d’eux provient des thermes publics, la plupart ont été mis au jour dans les niveaux d’abandon, au cours du IVe siècle, d’une hôtellerie réservée au transport d’État.
