These extracts from the 1908 and 1909 (a turning point in the history of AT&T) annual reports, illustrate Theodore Vail' s outlook and the conception of the Bell network: « a system », « a guiding principle » and « a service for all ». They moreover offer a glimpse of the American telephone giant's growth and tentacular development.

Ces extraits des rapports annuels de 1908 et de 1909, période charnière dans l'évolution d'AT&T, illustrent l'optique de Theodore Vail et la conception du réseau Bell : « Un système », « un principe directeur » et « un service pour tous ». Par ailleurs, ils permettent d'entr'apercevoir le développement du géant américain des téléphones et son évolution tentaculaire.
