The article includes : 1. a brief bibliography of Roman Mithriacism in the Empire at large and in northern Gaul in particular ; 2. an attempt at a brief synthesis of the major interpretations of Roman Mithriacism, as a basis of reflection to whoever intends to situate within the appropriate context the archaeological and epigraphical findigs connected to Mithra collected in northern Gaul ; 3. an archaeological catalogue and an epigraphical one of Mithra in the north of Gaul designed as complements to M.J. Vermaseren's collection (2 volumes, The Hague, 1956-1960). «Northern Gaul» is meant as outside the French territory (However, an original interpretation is proposed for a monument of the mithraeum at Septeuil (Yvelines department).

L'article comprend : 1. une bibliographie sommaire du mithriacisme romain dans l'Empire en général et dans le nord de la Gaule en particulier ; 2. un essai de brève synthèse des grandes interprétations du mithriacisme romain, base de réflexion pour quiconque veut inscrire dans un contexte correct les trouvailles archéologiques et épigraphiques relatives à Mithra faites dans le nord de la Gaule ; 3. un catalogue archéologique et un catalogue épigraphique de Mithra dans le nord de la Gaule, conçus comme compléments au recueil de M.J. Vermaseren (2 vol., La Haye, 1956-1960). «Nord de la Gaule» s'entend hors le territoire de la France. Cependant, une interprétation originale est proposée d'un monument du mithraeum de Septeuil (Yvelines).

Dit artikel omvat : 1. een beknopte bibliografie over de Romeinse Mithraskultus in het Keizerrijk in het algemeen en meer bepaald in Noord-Gallië. 2. een poging tot synthèse van de voornaamste interpretaties van de Romeinse Mithraskultus, als handlei- ding voor wie de archeologische en epigrafische vondsten terzake in Noord-Gallië in een juiste kontekst wil plaatsen. 3. Een katoloog van de archeologische en epigrafische vondsten in Noord-Galliëe, als complement bij de lijsten van M.J. Vermaseren (2 dl., den Haag, 1956-1960). Met Noord-Gallië wordt het gebied aangeduid dat buiten het huidige Frankrijk ligt. Fen oorspronkelijke interpretatie van een monument uit het mithraeum te Septeuil (department Yvelines) besluit het artikel.
