Francesco Aimerito, « La comparaison comme méthode d’élaboration des lois au xixe siècle : le cas de l’Italie (1814-1866) », Clio@Themis, ID : 10.35562/cliothemis.804
Italy of 1814-1866 may be regarded as a privileged geographical area for comparison as a method of codification ; probably in Europe, one of the areas most interested in this phenomenon. There are promulgated approx. 30 collections of legislation that can be attached to the category of « modern » codes : first, the codes promulgated from the Restoration until 1859 by the various « pre-unitary States », and then the first codes of the unitary kingdom (1865-66). All these codes are the result of a vast activity of comparison, characterized in various different ways, sometimes resulting in phenomena of « legal prêt-à-porter ».
